Pathways to Prosperity 2025 Virtual Workshop Series

Pathways to Prosperity is pleased to launch its annual Virtual Workshop Series starting in May 2025. The series will take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 PM ET. These sessions will present results from projects conducted by P2P and its partners, and discussions on current issues of wide interest. They are open to all, but registration is required.

The first workshop will take place on Tuesday May 13 at 1:00-2:15 PM ET and will focus on Understanding and Addressing Changing Attitudes toward Migrants and Immigration in Canada.

Over the past year, public attitudes toward migrants and immigration in Canada have shown a noticeable decline in favorability. This shift raises concerns about continued public support for Canada’s immigration program and our ability to welcome, integrate, and benefit from the contributions that migrants make to Canadian society. This workshop will begin with a presentation of findings from a national survey conducted in March 2025, exploring Canadians’ current immigration attitudes and immigration priorities. Next, it will focus on how international students have recently been demonized in Canada, and the implications of this demonization. The third presentation will discuss an initiative that is designed to promote more favourable attitudes toward migrants and recognize their many contributions to the community in which they settle.

  • Shifting Views on Canada’s Immigration Policy
    Clement Nocos, The Broadbent Institute
  • Demonizing International Students in Canada
    Yvonne Su, York University
  • I Am London – A Public Awareness Campaign Celebrating Immigrants
Huda Hussein, London & Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership
