Dr. Joyce O’Mahony is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Thompson Rivers University. Her program of research focuses on immigrant and refugee women’s postpartum depression experiences and access to mental health care services, and community-based intervention strategies for postpartum care and treatment. Her research to date has been motivated to further the understanding about immigrant and refugee women’s postpartum health, their social support needs, the barriers they experience and their treatment preferences in order to provide culturally sensitive, appropriate and equitable health care services.
